Teacher Appreciation Activities
Barrett families love our Barrett teachers and staff! Throughout the year, we show our appreciation in different ways.
- Welcome Back breakfast in August
- Catered luncheons during the fall and spring parent-teacher conferences
- Teacher Appreciation Week during the first week of May, which includes numerous activities, such as catered lunch, homemade breakfast, playground duty coverage, coffee and donuts, gift cards, and homemade cards and flowers.
Reflections
Reflections is a competition sponsored by the national PTA for students to create theme-based works of art in six categories: dance choreography, film production, literature, musical composition, photography or visual arts.
The theme for the 2017-2018 year is: Within Reach
There is a box in the Barrett library to submit entries and entry forms are available on the PTA bulletin board in the Barrett lobby (in both Spanish and English). Detailed information about the contest, including rules and guidelines for each category, as well as the entry form, can be found at: http://www.vapta.org/arts-and-education/reflections

Barrett Gives
Barrett Gives helps Barrett families who are experiencing a difficult time, such as, chronic illness in the family or job loss. Barrett Gives is a PTA initiative focused on helping families at our school when they need a little extra support. The Barrett community works together to support these families in different ways, such as, providing meals or transportation to doctor visits.
The largest campaign takes place each holiday season as we coordinate a gift drive for families in the most need. We also coordinate other volunteer opportunities during the school year - whether it's making sure students have clothes and shoes, or assisting families when they have a sick or injured child.
